Hosting a Pink Theme Baby Shower For My Sister

Last week, my mom and I  hosted our first-ever baby shower for my beautiful sister. Let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of nerves and excitement, and by the end of it, we were practically running on fumes. But, knowing I’m about to become an aunt for the first time is worth every ounce of exhaustion!

DIY Baby Shower Decorations

We didn’t really have a theme per se, just lots and lots of pink everywhere. It was all about celebrating love, family, and the arrival of our newest little blessing.

We went all out on decorations, and it was a real team effort. My talented cousin-in-law Stephany rocked the balloon arch, my gorgeous cousin Melissa provided the perfect backdrop, and my mom nailed the centerpieces. Together, we turned the place into a pink paradise, and we were all obsessed!

Ballon Arch

My cousin-in-law  purchased additional balloons that matched the kit I purchased on Amazon. The night before the baby shower we blew up the balloons, she tied them into a a garland and the following day she attached them to the backdrop.

Back Drop

My cousin provided the backdrop stand and the white cloth pictured.

The flowers were purchased at Sams Club. My mom picked out the flowers and she arranged them in the base. I then tied a ribbon on the bases to make them coquette (I’m kidding,  I thought the ribbon would add additional oomph to them and I was right!)

The small bases we purchased at a local party supplies store but here are similar ones on Amazon

The table covers, confetti, small decoration details were purchased at a local party supplies store and Dollar Tree.

Delicious and Adorable Pink Desserts

I took charge of the dessert table by making chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate covered rice krispie treats, macarons, mini conchitas, popcorn bags, and candy-filled party favors. The star of the show was the strawberry cake that was as delicious as it was pretty.

The macarons were filled with a swiss meringue strawberry filling and colored with The Sugar Art Master Elites “Hot Pink” and “Red Rose” They were made with my Italian Macaron Method Recipe

The conchitas were made with my Mini Conchita Recipe and also colored with “Hot Pink” They were vanilla flavor.

For the pretzels and rice  krispies I used almond bark from Walmart and used The Sugar Art Choc Elites in “BubbleGum” and “Ruby Red” to color it different shades of pink.

I used the leftover chocolate to make the little decorations using baby theme silicone molds.

Challenges

We had an outdoor baby shower planned but, Mother Nature decided to crash the party with an on and off thunderstorm. We had a tent that we rented but the storm was strong and our tent couldn’t hold up. Water got through the tent and it turned our backyard super muddy. Due to this many of our guests weren’t able to go in the tent where we had decorated so beautifully.

The thunderstorm also created a challenge when it came to playing the baby shower games. Our guests were dispursed with some in the tent, others on our covered porch and the rest inside  our house. We didn’t all fit in one spot so we had to improvise. My lovely friend Rubi suggested to play baby Bingo with each table individually. I made my way through each table inside the home, on the porch and in the tent. Everyone got a chance to play and win a gift.

We did get a change to play a couple other games such as the one with the baby pins, and measuring my sister’s belly with toilet paper.

It Was All Worth It

At the end of the day, despite the nerves and the last-minute challenges, hosting my sister’s baby shower was an absolute blast. The laughter, the love, and the promise of a new addition to the family made it all worthwhile. Plus, I got some serious bragging rights as the coolest aunt-to-be ever. Bring on the baby cuddles!
